Imphal, June 18 2021:
Left parties on Friday staged a sit-in protest at Nambol in Bishnupur district demanding the government to reduce prices of petroleum products, essential commodities and drugs.
Veteran communist Kh Ranabir participated in the protest, which was organised as part of the nationwide protest against price hike.
Speaking during the protest, CPI state secretary L Sotinkumar contended that the BJP government levying hefty tax from petrol and diesel amid the pandemic has resulted in unreasonable price hike.
He charged the NDA government of working against the poor people and in the favour of a handful of millionaires.
CPI Manipur assistant secretary M Joykumar Luwang, who also participated in the protest, called upon the people of the state to support the fortnight long protest against price hike.
CPI Nambol Local Council secretary Mongjam Ramananda and leaders of CPI, CPI-M, RSP and AIFB were also present during the protest.
