Imphal, June 18 2021:
Everyone in the political field in the state should remember the June 18 uprising and unite to protect the integrity of the state.
RK Anand, former MLA and currently state executive member of BJP Manipur Pradesh said this today at the remembrance of the martyrs of June 18 held at his residence and added that the pandemic has made it impossible to organise mass remembrance of June 18 which is usually organised by AMUCO and UCM as The Great June Uprising, Unity Day at Kekrupat every year.
The ceasefire between NSCN (IM) and Government of India was extended without any territorial limits in 2001 thereby putting the boundary and integrity of Manipur at stake.
The people of Manipur came out on their own without any instigation and without any distinction of religion, caste or community against the extension of cease fire in the state and 18 brave souls gave the supreme sacrifice on June 18 during the protest, he added.
The June 18 uprising is a national movement, which was a testament that the Manipur as a society will not be silent spectator when the boundary and integrity of the state was put at risk, that will be remembered by generations to come by and has etched itself with golden colours in history of the state, RK Anand added.
He appealed to everyone who are coming out in the political field to do welfare work for the people to not only join hands in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic but alsp unite when the integrity and survivability of the state was at stake.
RK Anand added that there has been instance in the past when some elected members didn't give due recognition to June 18 uprising because of some vested interest and appealed to everyone to respect June 18 and give it due recognition of being a national movement which was one of the most important event that was fought by everyone in Manipur without lifting a single weapon for the protection of boundary, integrity and identity of Manipur.
He also appealed everyone including all the political parties to stand together against anyone who threatens the existence, identity and boundary of Manipur.
The June 18 remembrance event was also attended by Mutum Dhaneshwar Singh, vice president, Kisan Morcha, BJP Manipur Pradesh and many other prominent political faces of Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC .
In continuation of COVID-19 relief work, RK Anand distributed face masks, face shields, oximeters, sanitiser, PPEs, hand gloves, edibles, packaged water and financial assistance to Covid Isolation Centre open at Kamakhya Pemton College today and also provided dinner for all the COVID-19 positive inmates and volunteers of the isolation centre for today.
Speaking to the media during his visit to Kamakhya Pemton College at Hiyangthang in Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, RK Anand deliberated on the need for everyone to stay fit and strong in order to win the war against the COVID-19 pandemic.
