100-bedded Covid Care Centre inaugurated at Ningthoukhong

In view of the rising COVID-19 cases needing hospitalisation in the district, a second 100-bedded COVID Care Centre, CCC for the District was inaugurated today by SDO Bishnupur Momoni Doly and Dr Chongtham Gunita in the presence of DC Bishnupur, Krishna Kumar, IAS at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong.
After formally opening the CCC, Krishna Kumar said that as the capacity of the 1st CCC located at Laukoipat, Bishnupur cannot accommodate the ever increasing referrals of COVID-19 positive patients, it was decided to open the 2nd CCC and this CCC would start functioning from today itself.
He also said that the only way to save life is by vaccination, so the prime focus is on it and also to increase the vaccination sites in the district which is 9 at present.
There is also a plan to set up a mobile vaccination team which would reach different corners of the district after giving prior information to the people.
The second focus is on testing, random testing would be done by selecting hot spot areas, bazaars and other congested areas.
In his speech, the DC also thanked CMO Bishnupur and his team for their dedication and other line departments for their relentless effort in fighting the pandemic.
The district already has a 55-bedded CCC at Laukoipat Bishnupur, 20 dedicated beds for Covid patients at District Hospital Isolation ward and 3 beds at High Dependency Unit, District Hospital Bishnupur.
The 100-bedded 2nd CCC at Mangolnganbi College, Ningthoukhong has 37 oxygen concentrators and 20 D-type cylinders.
The inauguration programme was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, H Bobby Sharma; Additional SP, Luikham Lanmio; CMO Bishnupur, Dr N Gyaneshor and other concerned officers and staff.
