Clarification sought on PDS rice denial slur

Imphal, November 11 2021: Reacting to the claims made by one Y Shanta of Kyamgei in the media alleging BJP of withholding distribution of PDS rice to beneficiaries in Arapti Shantinagar under Keirao AC for not hoisting BJP flags in their homes; Meira Paibi members of the area have demanded clarification from Shanta, urging him to produce evidences supporting his claims.

Addressing a press meet convened by Meira Paibi groups at the ground of Arapti Mamang Leikai Youth Club on Thursday; Arapti Komla Ingkhol Meira Paibi president Wahengbam ongbi Sushila informed that the all households in Arapti Mamang Leikai are receiving their monthly share of PDS rice without fail, due to the joint efforts of the Meira Paibi and Club members.

Informing that the denizens of Keirao AC resolved to reelect Keirao AC MLA L Rameshwor as they are pleased with his performance and service to the people; Sushila demanded Y Shanta, who is also planning to contest the polls, to clarify over his false remarks in the media which was done with the aim of maligning the reputation of the MLA.

She then termed Shanta's act to be highly immature, while stating that the locals installed the flags of BJP on their own will at their respective homes.

Even now, PDS rice is being distributed in Arapti Mamang Leikai for the last 10 days, she added.

Further stating that the people are informed via PA system everyday to collect their share of rice, Sushila remarked that distribution of rice is not associated with any political party.

The allegation that BJP is withholding rice for not erecting their flags is basically a low-level political tactic, made with an attempt to take political advantage, she contended.
