Plans initiated to execute SVEEP

With the initiative to make the coming Assembly election more smooth in Tamenglong district, Deputy Commissioner of the district Maranchan Luikham has today started preparing to execute System Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) effectively.
The initiative will be carried out under the instructions of the ECI.
A statement has been released to the press today with regard to this.
It further informed that enrolling all the eligible voters in the electoral list, creating awareness on the norms of using EVM, VVPAT and rules for casting votes among the voters are the main objectives of the plan .
It also includes improving the behaviour of the voters, deliverance of the essentials of the voters on the day of election to enable them to cast votes independently and for maintaining good relationships between the voters and the election organisers tro promote voters' faith in democracy.
Feeding essential information to local TV channels, radio and newspapers on time, sensitizing the masses about election using hoardings and wall paintings in public areas, organising public rallies, festivals, cultural programs and use of social media to create awareness are also enlisted as important tasks ,in the plan.
It is also said that youth voters festival, essay writing, street play, debate, quiz competition, song writing, singing competition, rock festivals, games, marathon will be held besides taking oath at public places like Gram Sabhas regarding the election and conducting seminars and workshops in school and college levels will form part of the initiative.
Matters of tender vote, using of Braille for blind people, making separate queue for male and female voters, allowing two female voters after each male voter, giving undue advantage to aged people and pregnant women, documents that can be proven for the people without EPIC, use of EVM, challenge vote, NOTA related contents, putting up candidates' names outside ROPs' offices, minimising occurrence of unwanted incidents by giving adequate awareness on the matters relevant to election code of conduct, making the voters know the ideologies of political parties, avoiding use of money power and trying to engage voters to the election process are also complementary works of SVEEP.
The DC has instructed the officials concerned to dispense with their duties effecitvely and appealed to the public to make the upcoming election a peaceful one in the district, the statement added.
