Imphal, October 05 2016:
The Dental Council of India (DCI) has recommended the Government of India to give recognition to RIMS Dental College.
A source in DCI informed that the 136th general body meeting of DCI was held at its Delhi office on September 30 and October 1 .
It was during this general body meeting that the DCI recommended the Government of India to give recognition to RIMS Dental College.
Standard maintained by Manipur University in conducting the first final examination of RIMS Dental College was examined by DCI Inspector Dr Pankaj Madhukar and Dr A Lavany on July 22 and July 23 this year.
After the two-day inspection, a standard evaluation report was submitted to the DCI.
The same report was studied at the general body meeting held on September 30 and October 1 .
After studying the report, the DCI gave its recommendation to the Government of India to give recognition to RIMS Denta ommendation, there would be no admission problem in RIMS Dental College from this year.
With the exception of Assam, all the North Eastern States and students from other parts of the country would have certain number of seats in RIMS Dental College which has a total of 50 seats.
As RIMS Dental College was lacking in many aspects, admission of students was not allowed last year.
As a result, RIMS Director, Medical Superintendent and Deputy Director and other top ranking officials had a hard time.
Nonetheless, all efforts were invested to make up infrastructure shortfalls as well as manpower shortage, and RIMS authority lobbied hard with DCI to give recognition to RIMS Dental College.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare also directly intervened so that RIMS Dental College is given due recognition.
It was the relentless efforts made by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare Deputy Secretary (NE Division) Badyo Padhyay and Dental Education Section officer N Indrakumar which ultimately paved the way for recognition of RIMS Dental College, said the source.
