Chandel bandh affects life

The Indefinite Chandel District Bandh called by Kuki & Naga Villages' Chiefs and Chairmen of Tengnoupal and Machi block affected normal life in Chandel District today.
During the Bandh, vehicles were off the road along the section of NH 2 (Imphal-Moreh road) .
Along the roads leading to Chandel Dist HQ and other Sub-Divisions, the bandh supporters were seen piling logs, woods and boulders to prevent movement of vehicular traffic.
All the shops and market places in the district headquarters were also remained shut.
However, there is no report of untoward incident.
Briefing mediapersons at Tengnoupal, Holkhokhai Mate, Chief of Chehlep said that although Kuki Village Chiefs do not oppose the implementation of 25% of MGNREGS fund by ADC members, they demand that the wages & material components of MGNREGS 2012-13 which have not yet released by the Programme Officer till date should be released at once.
"If the concerned programme officer failed to release the said fund at the earliest we will intensify our agitation and raise the demand for transfer of the Programme Officer as well", he warned.
