Imphal, August 23 2021:
Pioneer Education & Sporting Union (PESU) has questioned whether some group is colluding with the officials of Higher Education Department to ensure the degeneration of Royal Academy of Law (RAL), Oinam.
In a statement issued by its secretary O Chaoba Singh, PESU recounted that RAL was established at Oinam on August 18, 1994, with the hard work of the founders and the locals.
The College had been developing steadily without the support of the government till date.
After the term of the former principal ended, the term of the Governing Body (GB) of the college also lapsed last year.
Although the Education Department was requested multiple times for the constitutions of a new GB, no action has been taken up till date.
This has raised apprehension among the people whether some groups are colluding with certain officials of the Department to see the disappearance of the college.
"All of these have only depicted the college to be without an authority, not to mention of making it clear to the public that the government does not care about the government-aided colleges.
Presently, the absence of a principal and a GB has put the college in a difficult situation, while the students and their guardians are suffering, considering no online classes are being conducted, as is required during the pandemic.
Everyone is wholly dependent on the information being provided from the government and Manipur University from time to time basis", it conveyed.
Demanding the department concerned to appoint a capable principal who fulfills the RR along with appointment of teachers fulfilling the RR as per UGC guidelines; the Union also appealed to the authority concerned to form a GB at the earliest.
It then cautioned of launch ing intense agitations in collaboration with the locals, founder members, sympathizers, clubs and Meira Paibi associations for the sake of the students and the people, in case the authority concerned fails to fulfill the aforementioned demands.
