Many condole demise of Ima Momon

United NGOs Mission Manipur (UNMM), Coalition Against Drugs & Alcohol (CADA), Kanglei Ima Lup (KIL), Thangmeiband Apunba Nupi Lup (THANIL), Chanura Lamchinglen Kangleipak (CLK), Leihou Khunnai Kanba Luptin (LKKL), Jiribam Women's Association of Kangleipak (JIMWAK), Indigenous Minority Organisation Manipur (IMOM), Indigenous Minorities Socio-Cultural Organisation Manipur (INSCOM) and Yaipha Thourang Nupi Lup (YTNL) Wangkhei Hijam Leirak have expressed deep condolences over the sudden and untimely demise of All Manipur Tammi Chingmi Apunba Lup president Soibam (o) Momon Leima, fondly referred to as Ima Momon, due to Covid-19 at JNIMS Hospital on July 16 .
In separate releases, the civil societies shared the sorrow of the bereaved family members, and prayed to the Almighty God for peaceful rest of the departed soul in its heavenly abode.
CADA also convened a condolence meeting at its conference hall at Konung Mamang Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong on Saturday during which those present offered floral tributes to the photo of Ima Momon and observed two minutes' silence in her memory.
Manipur People's Party (MPP) also deeply condoled the sudden demise of Soibam Momon.
In their condolence messages, the CSOs as well as MPP president Dr S Ibomcha said the demise of Momon is a great loss for the people of the state and the void left by Momon would be hard to fill.
Apart from taking part in various protests launched from time to time concerning state issues, Momon was one among the 12 brave mothers who took part in the epochal nude protest staged in front of Kangla gate demanding removal of Assam Rifles.
She also took part in protests against atrocities committed by security forces, for implementation of ILP and protection of territorial integrity of Manipur, the condolence notes recalled.
