Two held over Japhou incident: CM

While asserting that the government will not compromise on violence and illegal activities carried out at any part of the state, chief minister N Biren revealed that two people who were involved in the Japhou market incident in Chandel district headquarters have been arrested and appropriate actions will be taken up against them.
Responding to posers on the sidelines of attending the celebration of 75th Independence Day of India organised by BJP Manipur Pradesh celebrated on Sunday, Biren said the government has been able to bring down the impact of Covid-19 through stringent measures and consistent efforts.
Recently, number of new death cases and new infection cases has come down.
At the same time, around 60 per cent of the targeted population have been vaccinated and the government is planning to complete vaccination by the end of September.
The CM further said that people can now sleep soundly under the BJP government.
They no longer have to spend sleepless nights in front of oil pumps to get a few litres of petrol or diesel.
Patriots' Day was observed across the state with the objective to bridge the hill-valley divide.
The government has also inaugurated memorial pillar for exiled martyrs of Manipur, he added.
BJP Manipur Pradesh A Sharda and CM Biren led the party leaders and members in paying floral tributes to the freedom as a part of the celebration.
