Tiger survey

As part of the all India tiger estimation exercise, a tiger survey has begun at Chingkao, Bunning of Tamenglong and Chakha area of Senapati district under the aegis of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Wildlife cum Chief Wildlife Warden, Manipur.
The Chingkao team, Bunning team and Chakha team were led by Arun RS DFO Tamenglong, S Khogen Singh RFO Tamei and Kh Hitler Singh RFO Tamenglong respectively.
In Chakha area, the survey of Panthera tigris and it's preys started from March 9 and it is reported that several signs of Sambar and Serow hoof mark and droppings were found in plenty.
An awareness programme sponsored by DFO Senapati Forest Division was also held at Chakha village on March 10 under the theme of protection of Asian elephant and its habitats.
The programme was attended by Kharibam Hitler Singh RFO, Dawi, Chairman, Chakha, Nabeen A, Volunteer Asian Nature Conservation Foundation, Bangalore, Sourabh Verma Wildlife Biologists, WII, Dehradun and Brajesh Kh, Wildlife Photographer spoke at the programme for immediate action from the villagers to stop deforestation and hunting of wildlife.
