CCpur, March 11 2019:
The Deputy Commissioner/DEO of Churachandpur along with senior SP Churachandpur today briefed representatives of political parties and the local media on the upcoming Lok Sabha polls even as they also made one last call for submission of licenced guns.
Addressing the event, DC Shyam Lal Poonia said the Model Code of Conduct has come into effect immediately following the announcement of poll dates by ECI.
Therefore, all parties are required to remove all party related posters or hoardings from public properties within 24 hours and from private properties within 72 hours from the implementation of MCC.
On the poll preparedness, he said 18 flying squads have already been put in place with 3 each for the six Assembly Contituencies.
Frisking points and check-points to monitor illicit items have also been set up with more coming up in the near future, he said adding, other cells to monitor expenses, media certification and monitoring, help lines etc are already put in place.
The DEO along with Senior SP K Kabib made one last call for submission of licenced guns as their earlier notice was responded merely by 360 people out of the total 3700 plus licenses issued in the district.
There are 1942 active gun licences holders in the town area alone and there could be no excuse whatsoever if they fail to submit them by March 17, they said.
Anyone who fails to comply with the call will have their license cancelled with no chances of revoking them.
Women only polling stations will also be set up in the district within the confines of Saikot and Churachandpur ACs, said Poonia.
Polling personnel and materials will be airlifted from four points; Henglep, Senvon, Kangrengdor and Jiribam, he said.
The Sr SP meanwhile pointed out that he was posted the third time in Churachandpur and has witnessed unpleasant sights in the past, even as he urged the people and all stakeholders to allow democracy to take its own path.
'Let us not give anymore embarrassment to our district,' he said.
