Ex-MLA candidate Somi Awungshi along with his loyalists have quit the BJP citing 'moral obligations' .
According to Somi Awungshi, he was compelled to resign the primary membership of Saffron party as the people have lost confidence and trust in present BJP led Government.
He claimed that the BJP led Government has failed to address the issues and problems of the people.
The party leaders as well as functionaries have constantly sidelined the interest of the people and the stand of party workers on many occasions, he charged.
Somi Awungshi contested on a BJP ticket in the last State Assembly election in 2017 from Phungyar Constituency.
Somi announced his resignation in a simple meeting held today in his residence at Hamleikhong, Ukhrul.
According to him, he will personally submit his resignation letter to the president BJP State unit today at Imphal.
