Minister Biswajit exhorts youth to work hard

Hard work is the only means to fulfill pur goals, works minister Thongam Biswajit told youth of Chadong New Site Village, Muirei, Mayophung and Ngarumphung villages at the end of a formal function at Ngarumphung village in Kamjong district on Tuesday.
During the interaction, the local youth raised several issues concerning unemployment of educated youth, tourism potential of the region and lack of sporting facilities among others to which Biswajit encouraged the youth to become self-reliant and create jobs with th knowledge and skills they possess.
He said entrepreneurs not only enhance their own household economy, but also generate employment for the whole society.
He pointed out that government is encouraging all weavers, handloom and handicraft artisans by providing various schemes and facilities.
Under the Handloom and Handicraft Delivery System, anyone can receive raw material at subsidized rates at their doorsteps after registering, he added.
The minister also stressed the need for promoting sporting culture as sports has been ingrained in "our blood" and further affirmed that government is always ready to support sportspersons.
Explaining the importance of a healthy lifestyle and sports, he said: "We can be mentally strong when we are physically strong." Biswajit also noted that even as education is the backbone of society, today sports is also a part of education.
Asserting that the present government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been giving special focus on youth, he continued that youth can play a significant role in the society.
He also encouraged the youth to support the call for 'Vocal for Local', and observed that the more we buy from outside, the more we will exhaust our money, and that the more we export our own products, the more we will bring in money to our economy.
The minister also shared his views on gender equality and women empowerment with the youths.
He explained at length various developmental schemes including the Manipur Start-up Scheme, Labour Card, Manipur State Rural Livelihoods Mission, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), etc.
Earlier in the day, minister Biswajit laid the foundation stone for Indigenous Park, Indigenous Garden & Homestay at Ngarumphung Village.
Speaking at the formal function, the minister termed 1 crore COVID-19 vaccination as a remarkable achievement of the government to contain the dangerous pandemic and further called on the people to take the COVID Vaccination and also urged the local leaders to campaign for COVID vaccination.
The foundation stone laying function was attended by village headmen, leaders, womenfolk and youths of local villages.
