Chandel, November 22 2015:
Kuki Students' Organization (KSO) Chandel District has temporarily lifted the indefinite bandh imposed along the Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway-102 from Sunday evening.
The decision to lift the bandh was taken following assurance given by the State Government to relocate the examination centre of D El Ed 2 yrs Examination for Tengnoupal BRC IGNOU Study Centre within the district during a meeting held on Sunday.
The meeting was attended by Education Minister M Okendro, IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, 42-Tengnoupal A/C MLA D Korungthang and Chandel ADC Chairman Lhukhosei Zou along with the representatives of KSO.
Prior to lifting the indefinite bandh, several vehicles including officials for receiving foreign delegates and security forces' personnel were stranded in between Saivom and Tengnoupal villages since early morning as the bandh supporters blocked the highway by placing an excavator and a bull-dozer in the middle of the road.
It may be mentioned that the Kuki Student's Organisation (KSO) Chandel imposed the indefinite bandh along the Imphal-Moreh section of National Highway-102 since November 14 last in protest against the shifting of the Examination Centre outside the District.
