Sangai Festival Tourist buses flagged off

Imphal, November 22 2015:
As part of the ongoing Manipur Sangai Festival 2015, two tourist buses were flagged off from the newly inaugurated Sanjenthong Bridge by Chief Minister O Ibobi today.
About 40 tourists including 13 delegates from Myanmar led by MP of Yangon Region Hluttaw U Hla Tun took a ride to Sendra tourist resort which is about 40 kms from the State capital.
The trip was coordinated by the Department of Tourism.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Tourism Parliamentary Secretary M Prithiviraj, Tourism Director Shyam Lal Poonia, officials of Tourism Department and organizing committee of the Sangai Festival.
Prior to the flag-off ceremony, the Chief Minister presented traditional attires and other mementos to the tourists.
Asian Theatre fest begins : Directorate of Tourism, Manipur opened the Asian Theatre Festival 2015 at Chandrakirti Auditorium today as part of the ongoing Sangai Festival.
Asian Theatre Festival is introduced as an component part of Sangai Festival for the first time this year.
Attending as chief guest, Chief Secretary O Nabakishore said the introduction of theatre as an element in the festival is a step that can boost the interest of the budding theatre artistes.
Theatre is markedly different from films.
The expressions, emotions and messages reflected in dramas are more intense than film, the Chief Secretary said.
Consultant Dr RK Nimai, Secretary of Arts and Culture Department K Radhakumar; Secretary, Tourism, Nidhi Mani Tripathi and Director, Tourism, Shyamlal Poonia graced the opening function as president and guests of honour respectively.
