Imphal, June 14 2017:
In order to solve the unemployment issue and also to maintain the National Highways, the State Government should constitute State Road Task Force, said Manipur Road Task Force Society.
Speaking to mediapersons at Manipur Press Club, RK Ranjit, general secretary, Manipur Road Task Force Society said, "The National Highways of the State are most of time in deplorable conditions and till this day, commuters have been suffering while commuting to and fro.
The State Government has sanctioned Rs 200-300 crore for constructing Imphal-Jiri road and Imphal-Dimapur road a month ago.
However, construction works undertaken by M/S HVS Construction Private Limited, Nidhi Creative Infrastructure and Bhartiya Infra Project reportedly failed to meet the regulatory standards" .
Instead of handling the National Highways construction work to private firms, the State Government should form a State Department by the name 'State Road Task Force'.
A memorandum regarding this matter was also submitted to Chief Minister N Biren last month, he added.
He further said, "A Cabinet meeting should be held to consider the formation of the proposed Department and provide job opportunities to many unemployed youth" .
