State receives 18601.59 MT of rice for May, June

Around 18601.59 MT of rice under PMGAY-3 scheme, re-launched as part of the central government's eforts to allocate 5kg of rice to every household and help them tide over the second wave of Covid-19, has arrived in the state and the authorities concerned have begun lifting the same for distribution to eligible benefciaries, CAF&PD minister T Satyabrata has informed.
The minister also informed that the state still has adequate petrol and LPG in stock.
Speaking to The People's Chronicle in this regard, minister Satyabrata informed that the rice for the month of May and June has been allocated to the DCs concerned.
Communication will be established between the agents and transport contractors of the respective constituencies to ensure the rice is lifted as soon as possible and distribution of the same done to the eligible benefciaries at the earliest.
Additionally, necessary labour force will be utilised and eforts will be made to prevent any shortage of PDS items.
The minister further informed that there is suffcient petrol stock for 12 days along with the required LPG stock.
In the current second wave of Covid pandemic, food and other necessary items are being distributed to families with positive cases but no measures are being taken up for the neighbouring households located inside containment zones.
Nonetheless, discussions will be held to ascertain if measures could be taken up at constituency level, he added.
Meanwhile, CAF&PD director Ranjan said that around 10 designated ofcials have begun lifting of the rice for May and June, while adding that the DCs have been instructed to distribute the same at the earliest.
It is the directive of the department to ensure the benefts are distributed to the deserving benefciaries, he added.
