Imphal, January 25 2020:
Manipur Peoples' Democratic Front (MPDF) launched a wall poster campaign at Manipur Press Club today, in a bid to ensure corruption free election process.
Speaking on the sideline of the event, MPDF secretary Sapam Samungou claimed that till date, it has not been possible to organise elections in a democratic manner.
He alleged that candidates giving money during election, failure of the common people to vote for the good candidate and instead voting for those who give them the most amount of money, have been some of the main reasons for the ills and problems persisting in the society.
He continued that organising public rally and sit in protests alone will not be able to bring solutions to the problems in the region.
To bring change, the electoral system must change and there should be free and fair election, he said, adding that MPDF organised the poster campaign so as to spread awareness about the need for an honest and just election process.
MPDF president and former MLA N Nodiachand was also present as well.
