In view of the failure of the Narendra Modi-led Government to fulfil its promise of two crore jobs for the youths of the country, the Indian Youth Congress launched a campaign to highlight the growing unemployment rate in India, by demanding a National Register of Unemployment (NRU), conveyed Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee.
Making the above statement at Congress Bhavan in BT Road today, Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee president Amir Hussain maintained that the Congress party has kicked off this campaign in the State as well.
Any unemployed Indian can register themselves in the NRU, by giving a missed call on a toll-free number - 8151994411.The number of people giving the missed calls will be constantly maintained and updated in the NRU, which will reflect the true volume of Indians who are suffering from unemployment.
He continued that Indian Youth Congress Committee president BV Srinivas and secretary launched the NRU campaign on January 23 this year.
From 6.1% in 2017-18, the unemployment rate increased to 7.5% at the end of 2019 with the number of unemployed people crossing the 30 million mark, said a statement of IYC.
It added that the demand for formation of NRU is a response to the deplorable state of unemployment in India, which has reached its highest level in 45 years.
