Nemcha hands out gifts to children, eldery

Imphal, January 25 2020:
As part of the Republic Day celebration, Social Welfare Department Minister Nemcha Kipgen distributed gifts, eatables, stationery items including books and toys, to children and aged persons at eight different places today.
The donations were made to orphanages, special schools and old age homes located in Imphal West and Imphal East districts namely BB Paul in Monsangei, Government Ideal Blind School in Takyel, Government Deaf & Mute School in Takyel, Observation Home in Takyel, SAA in Thangmeiband, Carmel Jyoti in Mantripukhri, SAA in Ningthem Pukhri Mapal and Ema Leimarel Women Welfare Association (Aged Home) in Kongba Nongthombam Leikai.
Director of Social Welfare Manipur Ng Uttam, Joint Director (ICDS) Manipur Bantee Konthoujam and other officials of Social Welfare Department were present on the occasion.
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the occasion, Nemcha Kipgen conveyed that the distribution event was organised by the Social Welfare Department to celebrate the joyous occasion of the 71st Republic Day.
She expressed happiness that the children and the elderly contentedly accepted the gifts from the department.
Extending warm wishes to all on the coming of Republic Day tomorrow, she wished for the State to be safe for women and children and further wished for the occasion to bring unification and harmony among different communities in the State.
The Minister stated that the Department will discuss with the Chief Minister about bringing all these institutes and homes under the Government, by introducing the notion in the Cabinet meeting.
She lauded the department officials and the staff on putting their efforts to clinch several achievements and recognition.
