ZYF ban on Orange Fest lifted

The restriction and prohibition imposed by Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) on Orange growers in Tamenglong district from participation in the State Level Orange Festival, 2013 due to be held at Noney tomorrow has been lifted.
The development has come about following the second meeting between the Govt.of Manipur and ZYF at the Chief Minister's Secretariat here today.
Apart from Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, the meeting, which lasted from 4:30 pm to 5:40 pm, was attended Vice-Chairman of Hill Area Committee ( HAC) from the side of the Government while the side of ZYF was led by its President ZYF(AMN) Titus Kamei and accompanied by Subash Kamei, General Secretary, ZYF (AMN) David Kamei, Joint Secretary, ZYF (AMN) Disinrei Gangmei, Games & Sports, ZYF (AMN), Kagangai Gangmei, Chairman, ZYF Tamenglong Zone, Johny Gangmei, Chairmam ZYF Sadar Hills Zone, Thaingampou Thaimei, Vice-Chairman, ZYF Nungba Zone, Kameichang Kamei, Finance Secretary, ZYF Luangchum Zone and Khamba Kamei, Publicity & Information Secretary, ZYF Nungba Zone.
According to a statement issued by Joint Secy of the Front David Kamei, the meeting discussed in dept the 6-point demands raised and both parties come to an understanding that there shall be another meeting between the Govt.of Manipur and Zeliangrong Youth Front on 20th December, 2013 (Friday) at 3:30 pm with Minister, Revenue, Law and Legislative Affairs and Forest Environment Th.Debendra Singh, who is also the MLA of Jiribam, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLA Nungba A/C and Z.Kikhonbou, MLA Tamei A/C and other concerned departmental officials for finalising the matter.
As both parties have arrived at an understanding and the Chief Minister has given the assurance of resolving the issue at the earliest, the Front has lifted the restriction and prohibition imposed on orange growers, Kamei announced.
It was also agreed by both parties that the Zeliangrong Youth Front shall resort to democratic agitation to demonstrate people protest in case the Govt.of Manipur fails to fulfil and materialize the issue, he added.
