DESAM volunteers lock up BSEM office, 8 detained

Imphal, March 13 2014 :
Demanding appointment of a new Secretary of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM), some volunteers of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) locked up the office of BSEM located at Babupara here today.
In the aftermath of the incident, police arrested eight members of DESAM.
However, all of them were released later in the evening.
The DESAM members led by its president Angamba locked the office gate of BSEM located in the high security zone at around 2:40 pm accusing that the Board Secretary Rajmohan continues to be in office though his service period ended on February 28 .

Irked by this development and also demanding the appointment of a new BSEM Secretary, DESAM members locked the office gate and left in auto-rickshaws.
The employees of the BOSEM were holed up for sometime.
On learning about the news, a police team led by officer in-charge (OC) Shantikumar rushed to BSEM office and opened the gate by breaking the lock.
The police team also chased the DESAM members and arrested them near Moirangkhom's BJP office as they were leaving in auto-rickshaws.
Later, they were released from the Police Station in the evening.
