Imphal, March 13 2014 :
Calling upon all political organisations fielding candidates in the two parliamentary constituencies of Manipur for the 16th Lok Sabha elections for enlisting three issues/demands in their respective election manifestoes, five Muslim (Meitei-Pangal) organisations said not acknowledging the proposals would compel Muslim voters to relinquish support to the particular candidate/party.
Speaking to newsperson at Manipur Press Club today on behalf of the Muslim bodies, Manipur Muslim Welfare Association president Abdullah Pathan said the demands are essential for safeguarding interests of the Muslim people and for socio-economic development of the minority community of Manipur.
The demands include suitable steps by the political parties for ensuring legal sanction in the implementation of the Prime Minister's New 15-point Programme; necessary provisions for establishing separate 'Muslim Development and Finance Corporation; and clearance to the three pending bills in the first session of the 16th Lok Sabha: the bills being Communal Violence (Prevention, Control and Rehabilitation of Victims) Bill 2005, Mishra Commission Report/Bill 2007 and Equal Opportunity Commission Bill 2008 .
