'NPP knows protocol of coalition Govt'

Ex-MLA of Oinam assembly constituency late Dr Irengbam Ibohalbi's wife Irengbam Nalini (Mema) has joined National People's Party (NPP).
NPP felicitated her along with her workers in a function held at Mayol community hall, Iroishemba in Imphal West district on Wednesday morning.
Speaking at the event, NPP national vice-president and deputy chief minister Y Joykumar predicted that no party will win absolute majority in the forthcoming 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly.
However, NPP will emerge as the single largest party and the next government will be a coalition one.
The party knows the protocol of running a coalition government and the coalition government in Meghalaya run by NPP president Conrad Sangma as the chief minister is the living proof of the party's competence.
Likewise, the party can lead a coalition government in the state effectively, he said.
In her address, Nalini said that she believes in regionalism and she is joining NPP as she is impressed with the regional movement initiated by NPP to bring equal and inclusive development in the northeast.
She assured of uplifting the status of women if she gets elected while adding that women empowerment is a must in order to bring equal development in the society.
NPP state general secretary (organisation) Sheikh Nurool Hassan, NPP Youth Front state president Laitonjam Jayananda and other party leaders attended the felicitation function.
Meanwhile, BJP Minority Morcha, Imphal East former general secretary Mustakim also joined the NPP in a function held at the residence of Kshetrigao intending candidate Sheikh Noorul Hassan on Wednesday.
The function was also attended by NPP Kshetrigao Unit president Md Abdul Gafar Khan.
Speaking on the occasion, Mustakim explained he joined NPP as he believes that NPP will form the next government as the single largest party and also due to his trust in Noorul Hassan.
In his speech, Noorul Hassan welcomed Mustakim into the party, adding that his (Mustakim) joining will help realise NPP's dream and bring changes in NE states through regionalism.
