Political bodies denounce Oting killing

Chairman of Hill Areas Committee (HAC), Manipur Legislative Assembly K Leishiyo has extended his condolences on the loss of innocent lives at Oting village on December 4 .
The statement termed the incident a 'barbaric act' committed on innocent civilians on the pretext of mistaken identity.
The "Aggressive Defensive Posture" served by 42 AR at Kamjong and Ukhrul districts on November 19 can lead to the occurrence of a similar incident in Manipur, the statement added.
HAC called for the repeal of AFSPA and other such orders which can disturb the sense of security of civilians.
The Manipur State Secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) also condemned the killings and conveyed its heartfelt condolences and demanded a compensation of 25 lakh and suitable jobs for the families of the bereaved.
The press release further dismissed the statements given by the Army and Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded a thorough and speedy investigation.
Manipur State Council Communist Party of India (MSC/CPI) has stated in their press release that security forces and paramilitary forces have ended the lives of many innocent civilians in Jammu & Kashmir and the Northeast states under the protection of AFSPA.
Expressing strong condemnation of the brutal incident, MSC/CPI also appealed for AFSPA to be repealed immediately.
