Imphal, December 08 2021:
Koutruk Senjam Khunou Development Committee and National Sports University (NSU) Construction Demand Committee Manipur have asserted that the NSU land site which belongs to Koutruk and Senjam Khunou under Imphal West district should not be changed to Konsakhul.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here on Wednesday, Koutruk Senjam Khunou Development Committee secretary N Ram Singh stated that the land site was donated by villages of Koutruk and Senjam for construction of NSU without taking any compensation.
The said land was handed over to the NSU authorities after it paid a premium to the government and the land transaction was cleared by the government then only the construction of NSU began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi laying the foundation stone, he recounted.
N Ram mentioned that it is wrongful of Konsakhul Area Joint Committee and Joint Tribal Students' Association (JTSA) to claim the land site as owned by Konsakhul after the construction of NSU has begun.
It is unfortunate that to achieve their unfounded claim they are calling for total shutdown and banning of national projects.
Their protest is against the people of the state and will only lead to delaying construction of NSU.
The two committees will never agree to change in the name of the NSU land site based on baseless claims and pressure tactics.
They are not happy with the silence maintained by the Sekmai MLA on the issue.
Theland on which the NSU is being constructed belongs to Koutruk and Senjam Khunou.
If the government takes the side of Konsakhul then it must bear the responsibility of the mass agitation launched against it, he cautioned.
