Imphal, December 08 2021:
Naoriya Pakhanglak-pa AC intending BJP candidate Oinam Malesh has raised the possibility of the state being unable to control and ward off the influx of outsiders into Manipur, once the railway line reaches Imphal.
On Monday, a booth level committee meeting of Malom Tulihal and Tuliyaima was organised at the community hall of Malom Bazar.
During the meeting which was attended by BJP Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Mandal president L Indrajit, 50 old age pension cards, 70 CMHT cards and 200 labour cards were distributed to beneficiaries of two booths.
Speaking on the occasion, Malesh remarked that there are concerns over the future of Manipur, which has a small indigenous population with regard to the influx of outsiders from the neighboring country of Myanmar and from other states of India.
Many of the outsiders have been found not possessing valid ILP passes, while some have been apprehended entering the state illegally.
All of these are threatening the survival of the indigenes.
On the other hand, the railway line has been connected till Jiri and works are underway to connect the lines till Imphal.
Once the connection is established, there will be an overwhelming influx of outsiders.
As such, the elected leaders need to discuss and prepare some kind of law for protection of the indigenes, he arrested.
Malesh then said that a good leader is needed to save and guide the youth, many of whom have turned to abusing drugs after failing to find employment.
It is unfortunate that often times, people who do politics for self-interests and make compromises every now and then are elected as representatives of the people, he remarked.
