Imphal, May 23 2018:
Representatives of Leisang village submit a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren on Meeyamgi Numit today demanding better road condition, drinking water facilities and construction of an Anganwadi centre in the village at the earliest.
Speaking to the media persons at Manipur Press Club today, a representative of the village, T Letkhokam Haokip said that Leisang village was electrified by the Narendra Modi led Government on April 26 this year and it became the last village to get electricity thus getting some limelight in National and local media.
The present villagers began settling at Leisang from 2009 from their original place of Kotlan village as the said village was left out from electrification last year though the neighbouring village got electricity facilities under the Central Government's mission to electrify all the villages of the country.
Even though he expressed gratitude to the Government for taking up steps to provide electricity and for installing transformer at the village in such a short period of time, Letkhokam Haokip mentioned that the village has not been getting electric supply on a regular basis till date.
On the other hand, he complained that the distance from Leisang village to IT road is around 3 kilometres and the road becomes very slippery and risky during the rainy seasons.
During their meeting with CM today, the villagers made an appeal for repairing the link road from the main road to their village at the earliest, he added.
The villagers also appealed the CM to provide safe drinking water facilities, as there is no such facility available at present and the villagers have to collect Water from the stream for their daily needs.
There is no also proper health care system in the village, Letkhokam Haokip said.
He continued that the villagers also appealed for immediate opening of an Anganwadi Centre in the village and for the construction of a community hall at the earliest.
