In the absence of timely checking of service books of the State Government employees working in different departments, there have been instances of employees getting their pension more than the set amount and high deduction from pension amount for many employees.
According to an official source, Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu issued an order issuing certain procedures to be followed by every Government department to avoid such loopholes when it comes to disbursing pension to retired Government employees.
The order which was issued yesterday apprised all the Administrative Secretaries and Heads of Departments about the procedures to be followed strictly.
According to the order, service books of the employees should be verified from time to time and service books of those employees who are about to retire should be verified two years ahead.
If deduction is to be made from their pension amount then the same should be made from their salary in advance.
In case the Government losses fund in absence of timely deduction then the DDO concerned and Head of the Department should be liable in accordance with the Manipur Public Servants' Personal Liability Act, 2006 and the lost amount will be recovered by deducting from their salary.
Pension papers of those employees who are going to retire should reach the Accountant General six months ahead of their retirement date and Heads of Departments should look into the records of those employees who will be retiring in March next year to avoid such loopholes at the time of disbursing pension, the order said.
