Imphal, December 21 2017:
Contending that implementation of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana Gramin (PMAY-G) in Tamenglong district is in mess, BJP Tamei Mandal has requested the concerned Department to take up necessary action against those officials who manipulate the flagship scheme of the Central Government .
According to a press release of BJP Tamei Mandal, PMAY-G is meant for providing assistance to BPL families who are either houseless or having inadequate facilities for constructing a safe and durable shelter.
The beneficiaries of the scheme are being selected based on the socio-economic caste census of 2011 irrespective of party or caste, tribes etc .
It maintained that the commitment of the Government is to provide housing for all by 2022 with Rs 1.30 lakh as the unit assistance of house.
It said that the fund will be released to the beneficiaries in three instalments and the duration for the construction of the house is 18 months .
As per the guideline, the beneficiaries are predetermined by the socio-economic caste census of 2011 or the Government agency should consult village authority/village chief in selecting candidates of each villages .
However, neither SDO (Tamei) nor the District Magistrate (Tamenglong) follows the guideline provided.
It is obvious that the concerned MLA is using the scheme to accelerate his political career, it alleged .
In the first batch of PMAY-G, Tamei and Tousem Blocks were entitled to be allocated 267 beneficiaries each.
However, when there is plenty of deserving BPL families who are also listed in the 2011 census, Tamei Block received only 217 and 50 beneficiaries of Tamei Block rightful quota had been diverted to Tousem Block, it claimed.
