Fawn rescued, handed over to DFO, Kpi

In an inspiring incident, particularly among the tribal people who adopt hunting as a traditional practice, one Kuki hunter of Kangpokpi District rescued a fawn and handed over to Divisional Forest Office, Kangpokpi, Forest Division today .
Jamkhohao Touthang of Kangpokpi DHQs spotted the deer in need of help and he stepped in right away to rescue the deer .
HE handed over the fawn to DFO Kangpokpi Forest Division, Kangpokpi District, Esther Laltankim Serto in the presence of SDC (HQ) Kangpokpi, Kaigoulal Kipgen and other forest department officials .
Speaking to media persons, Esther Laltankim Serto said that it is really encouraging for Jamkhohao to rescue the deer and handing over to the department .
Esther stated that the deer will be handed over to the department concerned at the earliest after necessary formalities .
She also said that such initiative of Jamkhohao Touthang is indeed praiseworthy and commendable and lauded him while stating that he could be a role model in preserving and protecting the wildlife of Kangpokpi District .
A farmer by profession, Jamkhohao Touthang said that the deer was very weak when he rescued it and after nurturing for few days, the deer’s health improved and he had to give away the deer to the department concerned for its own safety and health.
