Ruangmei tribe's script Ruanghiak launched

Ruangmei tribe's script called Ruanghiak has been formally launched by the Ruangmei Literature Society at the conference hall of RBCC Centre Church, Tarung, here on Saturday.
MLA and HAG chairman Dinganglung (Dipu) Gangmei, Rongmei Naga People Organization-president Amu Kamei, former president of RNCM Thuankubui Pamei, president of Rongmei Naga Council Manipur Ramkung Pamei, president of Rongmei Literature Society (RLS) Ragongning Gangmei and Rev KG Jaojianlung Gangmei, chairman of Interim Body for Ruanghiak Development and Promotion (IBRDP), were present at the launch event.
In their speeches, Dipu Gangmei urged the gathering to extend full cooperation to the efforts of the Ruangmei Literature Society for advancement of the Ruangmei language while RLS president Ragongning Gangmei called the event a historic moment for Ruangmei (Rongmei) community, stating that after a decade of research by the Ruangmei Literature Society, involving many Ruangmei intellectuals and with moral, financial and prayer supports from the public, the script was finally launched.
He added that this was only the beginning and sought cooperation from all.
The script of Ruangmei (Rongmei) tribe has vowels, consonants and numerical system.
The 'Ruanghiak' was published by Ruangmei Literature Society and IBRDP, and 1000 copies were printed for the first edition.
Various leaders from Ruangmei (Rongmei) CSOs, student and youth organisations, Rongmei Luphuam Manipur and well-wishers attended the event.
Singer Kalimpi Riamei Rongmei, artiste and Ruangmei him maker Kachangthai Gonmei enthralled the gathering with melodious songs.
RLS secretary Kadongai Panmei delivered a vote of thanks and it was followed by Ruangmei anthem sung in unison by the gathering.
The event concluded with a closing prayer by Rev Fr Tingiung, assistant priest, Khoupum Parish.
