Imphal, July 20 2010:
Referring to the news items published under the heading "Malaria scare grips border villages", State Malaria Officer H Nimaichand has clarified that only one person was found malaria positive in Kasom Khullen sub-division.
This was out of 300 blood smears and 184 rapid diagnostic tests carried out in ten villages under Kasom Khullen sub-division bordering Myanmar.
Awareness campaign along with IRS (indoor residual spray) has been completed in these villages whereas ASHAs have been provided with adequate RDT and anti-malarial drugs.
Quoting the District Malaria Officer, Ukhrul, the SMO, in a press release, claimed that the situation is contained at the border villages.
