The 20th, 21st and 22nd State Level Bankers' Committee (SLBC) meeting held here today has called for active participation of the banks in extension of banking services as well as for co-ordination with Government Departments and other stakeholders for enhanced economic activities for the development of Manipur.
The joint meeting held in the conference hall of State Guest House, Sanjenthong was presided over jointly by Principal Secretary (Finance), Government of Manipur AN Jha; General Manager RBI, Guwahati MK Gayon; Regional Director, RBI, Guwahati Surekha Marandi; Chief General Manager, SBI Local Head Office, Guwahati RK Garg; General Manager Network to SBI Local Head office Baskar Jyoti Sarma and Officer in-charge, NABARD, Imphal AB Das.

Attended by a large number of State Government officials related to various Departments and representatives of various banks, the meeting took serious note over slow pace of banking activities in Manipur and discussed ways and means of improving.
Accordingly, it has been proposed that along with encouraging the banks to take active participation in development of banking operation throughout the length and breadth of Manipur, a co-ordination committee of the banks, Government departments and other stakeholders should be set up for enhanced economic activities.
The discussion in the meeting also touched upon other core issues like credit flow to agricultural sector and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), setting up of Rural Development and Self-Employment Training Institutes (RUDSETI) in Imphal East and Churachandpur districts, etc.
