World Mental Health Day

As in other parts of the world, the World Mental Health Day 2014 was observed jointly by Health Department; Manipur State Mental Health Authority; Indian Psychiatric Society, Manipur State Branch and Department of Psychiatric, JNIMS at GM Hall here today.
The observance held under the theme 'Living With Schizophrenia' was attended by Chief Secretary PC Lawnkunga and Dr K Rajo, Director of Family Welfare as chief guest and president respectively while Prof N Heramani, Department of Psychiatric, RIMS; Prof Sh Gyaneshwar Sharma, Department of Psychiatric, JNIMS and Dr L Surchandra, retd Director of Family Welfare were present as guests of honor.
Addressing the gathering, Dr Heramani stated that the World Mental Health Day has been observed across the world since 1992 with the objective to educate people about mental health, create awareness on the subject and share ways to tackle mental disorder.
He said that care, timely diagnosis and medication can cure a person who suffers from mental disorder and asserted that there one should balance physical component, mental component and environment component to keep him healthy.
