Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal observed the National Cleanliness Day on the 147th Birth Anniversary ofMahatma Gandhi at the Mini Secretariat (North Block), Thoubal today, along with all the staff of the GovtDepts located in theNorth Block namley Employment, Veterinary, MSPDCL, Social Welfare information, ICDS, etc, frorn 6 am to 9 am.
The office rooms, corridors, bathrooms and campus of the North Block were cleaned up Later, a team from the Thoubal Municipal Council joined the cleaning, said a statement from the NYK.

The statement said that they were "paying homage and tribute to the Father of Nation by doing Shramdaan" .
The DC thanked the staff for their involvement in the effort.
The basic objective of the programme, according to Y Laksman Singh, DYC was to create awareness among the youth and officials on the need to keep the surroundings clean.
He addressed the youth and participants, after the cleaning, on the matter of cleaning up a "regular phenomenon" with one putting in 2 hours per "week, and TOO hours per year, "as mentioned in the Swachh Bharat Mission." The Kendra has organized Swachhta Pakhwara in the district along .with the youth clubs in the villages, said the statement.
A group photo session was also held with the visiting DC, ADM and other officials of the district administration.
K Lokendro Singh, Member DACYP, NYK Thoubal concluded the program by expressing his gratitude.
National Students' Union of India, Manipur State has also observed a cleanliness awareness programme as part of the National Cleanliness Day at Kangla Main Gate today.
The programme was also attended by MPCC vice president MLA N Loken Singh.
Yaiskui MLA E Chand Singh and NSUL Manipur State president P Bankimchandra Meitei.
Speaking at the programme.
MLA N Loken Singh said urged the youth to contribute in building a healthy society particularly in conserving the environment and keeping the surrounding clean.
On the other hand, personnel of Manipur Rifles also conducted a social service at Chingmeirong, Manipur Legislative Assembly complex and DM College gate, Thangmeiband.
