Imphal, October 02 2016:
Manipur Students' Federation (MSF), HQs has demanded SUK to clarify on the allegations levelled against the student body within two days.
In a statement, MSF HQs said that members of MSF did not take any members of SUK Model Higher Secondary School Unit into custody nor made some students signed MSF's membership admission form forcibly as alleged.
Till date, MSF has never forced any student to be its member.
The allegations are nothing but an act to tarnish the image of MSF, the statement said.
In fact, one Jangailung Phaomei of Lamlong Higher Secondary School is to contest an election as MSF candidate to post of general secretary.
On October 28 at 5 pm, he was taken into custody by some unidentified individuals.
Jangailung was taken to SUK office and warned to withdraw his nomination and return to his native village.
When the news of Jangailung's detention reached MSF Lamlong Unit, the same was conveyed to MSF HQs .
Jangailung, who was also physically assaulted, was later found at the bus stand at 8 pm on the same day.
Executive members of MSF HQs brought Jangailung back to MSF office.
Advisors of MSF HQs tried calling SUK president numerous times to talk about the matter.
However, SUK president did not receive the calls, MSF HQs said in a statement.
Later that same night, one member of SUK called up Jangailung to ask if he had reached his native village.
Executive members of MSF, HQs visited SUK office the next day.
However, not a single executive member of SUK was present.
Though MSF president had repeatedly asked SUK president to hold a joint meeting regarding the matter, the latter just agreed to talk but never gave a chance to meet formally.
Asking SUK who has contributed more to the welfare and development of the student community, the statement said MSF regards the aspirations of the students and has always work to build a better environment for the students.
SUK has stated that people of hills and valley are one.
However, works executed by SUK contradict its earlier statement, MSF HQs said.
It further asked why SUK has to allege MSF without any reason.
SUK should clarify on the matter within two days.
MSF is always ready to hold a meeting regarding the issues, the statement said.
