Dimapur, October 02 2016:
There have been increasing number of interaction between the Nagas in India and Myanmar since the Naga Hoho's visit to the neighbouring country last year.
Naga organisations from Myanmar and India have been working hard to understand each other's situation more by engaging in interactions more often.
Since the last two days, a joint team of Naga Yuya, Council of Naga Affairs (CNA) and Eastern Naga Students' Association (ENSA) from Myanmar have been meeting various civil organisations in Nagaland.
On October 1 (Saturday), the Naga delegation from Myanmar met the Naga Hoho at Hotel de Oriental Grand in Kohima and deliberated on strengthening Naga organisations both in India and Myanmar.
They also discussed ways and means for better co-ordinations and unity among the Nagas from Myanmar and India.
The visiting team also invited the Naga Hoho and its Federating units to visit Naga areas in Myanmar during their New Year festival and have a joint meeting and interaction with the people.
Meanwhile, the Naga Hoho requested the visiting delegation from Myanmar to convey its wishes and aspirations of the Naga people living in India to NSCN-K supremo SS Khaplang to renew the cease-fire agreement with the Government of India in the
larger interest and unity of the Naga people.
It is worth recalling here that last year, the Parliamentary Working Committee of the Nagaland Legislators' Forum on Naga Political Issue constituted by the Government of Nagaland had deputed the Naga Hoho and the Eastern Naga People's Organisation (ENPO) to go and meet the NSCN-K supremo, SS Khaplang and convey "the desire" of the Committee "as well as of the State Government and the people of Nagaland" for resumption of ceasefire between the outfit and the Government of India.
Consequently, the Naga Hoho and the ENPO visited various "Naga areas" in Myanmar and met "key leaders".
The Naga Hoho and ENPO leaders also reportedly visited Mandalay and Nay Pyi Taw last year and met Myanmar's Railway Minister and vice chairman of Myanmar peace committee U Aung Min, U Hla Tun MP and member of Myanmar Peace Committee, U Myat Ko MP and president Naga Yoya, U Sar Mu MP, U Shitti MP, U Zing Warn MP, Rev Kyaw Kyaw member of interfaith religious dialogue group Mandalay Division and U Wangyu businessman.
