Ukhrul, October 02 2016:
The contract transporters for NFSA Ukhrul district had illegally deducted one and half kilogram of rice as transportation charge from each of the beneficiaries of Ukhrul, alleged some FPS agents.
Although the FPS agents protested against the illegal deduction of rice while lifting NFSA rice from the godown, the CAF &PD Inspectors who are monitoring the NFSA rice distribution at the godown would issue a chit to the FPS agents with lesser quantity from the usual allocated rice.
FPS agent from Poi B village reveals to this correspondent that his actual rice allocation is 23.50 quintals, but he was issued a chit for 20.50 quintals only, deducting 3 quintals as transportation charge by the FCS Inspector.
The contractors even threatened that the two months rice allocation for ( September& October) would lapse, if they oppose the deduction.
The FPS agents, further alleged that CAF& PD staff of Ukhrul are also involved in siphoning PDS rice.
The monthly NFSA allocation for Ukhrul district is AAY - 1352.75 quintals and Priority- 5863.40 quintals totalling 7216.15 quintals.
Another FPS agent from Khaivaren locality Haryui mentioned that even though the beneficiaries list was updated and the monthly allocation increased to 19.60 quintals but 9.65 quintals are yet to be given.
The FPS agent from Tusom village Rishang alleged that even after deduction the contractors do not transport the rice to their village under some lame excuses stating that they will reimburse later.
Ukhrul ADC members held a meeting with FCS Inspectors at the godown about the illegal deduction of NFSA rice by the transport contractors of Ukhrul district.
Inspector Mataisang clarified that deduction of PDS rice was done with-the knowledge of his superior officer District Supply Officer (DSO), Ukhrul.
The Councillor from 12 DCC Choithar Mark Luithing questioned why the transporter unloaded the rice at the village junction without any information.
According to NFSA it has to be delivered at the village fair shop.
The councillors further warned the two FCS Inspectors Mataisang and Shimthar to immediately release the deducted rice or face dire consequences.
