Bus driver abducted along NH-2 at Nagaland

Driver of an inter-State bus heading for Imphal from Guwahati was abducted by some unidentified persons from Viswema, Nagaland last morning.
Royal Rajdhani Travels bus driver Thoudam Rame (31) s/o Ningthem of Luwangsangbam Matai Awang Leikai, Imphal East was overpowered and abducted by three unidentified persons who came in a Maruti van from Viswema between 5.30 and 6 am yesterday.
Rame and his assistant were carrying around 40 passengers in their bus from Guwahati to Imphal when they were suddenly chased after by the three persons in a van.
On the way, the van overtook the bus and forced the bus to stop.
The unidentified persons who seemed armed soon overpowered Rame and led him away but the abductors did not say anything to the passengers, said assistant driver Chongtham Roshan (25) of Khurai Konsam Leikai.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, Roshan said that he drove the bus after Rame was abducted and reached Imphal yesterday together with the passengers.
Meanwhile, Rame's family and the All manipur Inter-State Bus Association have appealed to all concerned to release Rame safe and sound immediately on humanitarian ground.
One member of the association said that Rame was a humble driver who was struggling for livelihood.
Apart from his wife, Rame has two daughters and one son.
He is the sole bread winner of the family.
One representative of the association said that Rame was abducted in connection with a monetary demand of Rs 20 lakh served to the All Manipur Inter State Bus Association by the NNC.
