ICDS a failure in the State
Source: Hueiyen News Service
Imphal, November 28 2013:
The Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS) taken up under Social Welfare Department is in a state of failure with Anganwadi Centres across the State not being supplied with the monthly quota of rice and other edible items for more than six months.
The ICDS is a scheme fully sponsored by Central Government to provide educational and nutritional benefits to children up to the age of six years.
The scheme has been quite successful in other states, but it has been in shambles in the State.
Even the honorariums of Angangwadi workers and helpers have not been paid for several months.
