Woman found dead : Flash bandh called, normal life affected

A flash bandh call by KSO, KKL and KWHRO over the death of a woman whose lifeless body was found last night has affected normal life in the district as bandh supporters blocked vehicular movement at several points along the Tiddim Road.
According to police, the main accused, husband of the late woman surrendered to Moirang police station today at about 4.30 pm.
The body of Ngahneilam Haokip (35) daughter of Seithang Haokip of Masemjang village was found on a paddy field near Gothol village and local police took the corpse to the district hospital mortuary around 8.30 pm yesterday.
On learning about the murder, various Kuki civil bodies including the KSO Churachandpur, KWHRO and KKL deliberated on the issue and imposed a flash bandh effective from 5 am today, demanding the Government to arrest the culprit.
Even as bandh supporters blocked Tiddim Road at several points affecting public movement, the body was taken to Imphal around noon for autopsy.
It was again brought back to the district hospital mortuary here around 5.30 pm with the CSOs at the forefront demanding arrest of the killers.
Till the time of filing this report, the civil society organisations were still discussing whether to claim the body or not.
Though there are no reports of the Government fulfilling the demand to arrest the killer(s), KSO Churachandpur president said they have however suspended the indefinite bandh it had imposed early today for 36 hours.
Meanwhile, sources informed that the deceased woman was the wife of one Md Khumei of Kwakta Ward Number 7.The dead body was found in a paddy located at Gothol village, a few metres away from Kwakta.
According to the parental family members of the deceased woman, who were present at RIMS morgue, lifeless body of Ngahneilam was found today morning in a paddy field by a search party searching for her since last night.
Md Khumei, in the meantime, has allegedly gone hiding since his wife was found dead.
Parental family members of Ngahneilam Haokip alleged that Md Khumei is the prime suspect in the brutal murder case.
They also urged the police to arrest Md Khumei at the earliest.
