Imphal, March 28, 2014:
Asserting that Trinamool Congress (TC) will be the decisive factor in the formation of a Government at the centre, TC nominee in the Outer Manipur Parliamentary Constituency Kim Gangte said ensuring better transport system would be helpful in promoting camaraderie between the hill and valley people.
Speaking at the flag hoisting ceremony for the upcoming 16th Lok sabha election at her Langol residence this morning, Kim observed that sense of alienation being felt by the people in the hills could be lessened to a great extent if there is proper and convenient surface transport network.
Existence of reliable transport system will facilitate movement of the people from one place to another, strengthen trade and commerce and will eventually develop warmer ties between the hill and valley settlers, said the former Parliamentarian.
Claiming that people settled along IT Road are disgruntled with the Congress Government due to prolonged negligence of the important road link, she called upon the people to introspect what development work had the previous MP initiated for the region.
Asserting that if elected to the Parliament she would ensure that need for transport infrastructure development is taken seriously by the Central Government, Kim also predicted that the next Government at the centre will be a coalition Government in which support or participation of All India Trinamool Congress would be mandatory.
Emphasis would be on women empowerment along with socio-economic development of Manipur, maintained Kim while expressing that the upcoming election provides a golden opportunity for the womenfolk to fight for their own rights.
Pointing out that Trinamool's goal is to bring about positive change and development in Manipur, she contended that the Congress party, once considered a powerful political organisation, has been disintegrating.
With the Congress wave on the wane and BJP unlikely to form the Government on its own Trinamool Congress would be playing a vital role in the formation of the new Government, she added.
Trinamool Congress MLA K Sarat and party's State unit general secretary Ngachomi Ramshang also attended the event.
