13 Legal Aid clinics opened

A total of 13 Legal Aid Clinics have been opened in the State today covering all the nine districts as a part of programme launched by National Legal Services Authority for opening such clinics in every subdivision throughout the country under the guidance of Justice RM Lodha, Judge, Supreme Court of India and the Executive Chairman, National Legal Services Authority.
For Imphal East district, Legal Aid Clinic was opened at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa; Gamma Ray Club, Chanam Sandrok village and Jiribam Court Complex, according to a statement issued by the MSLSA.
In Imphal West, the clinic was opened at Haoreibi Karam.
The same was also opened at Moirang College campus and Bishnupur Court complex in Bishnupur district.
The clinic was also opened at Thoubal Court complex and Yairipok Bamon Leikai Youth Club, Yairipok in Thoubal district.
A clinic each was also opened at Senapati Court Complex, Churachandpur Court complex, Moreh Court complex, Chandel, Ukhrul DC/Court complex and Noney Bazar under Nungba subdivision in Tamenglong district.
Acting Chief Justice, LK Mohapatra inaugurated the first legal aid clinic at Manipur Central Jail, Sajiwa.
He was accompanied by N Rajnikanta Singh, Jt Registrar and Alex Muivah, Dy Registrar (Judl) of Manipur High Court.
The inaugural function at Jiribam was attended by Lamkholal Kipgen, JMFC/Civil Judge, Jiribam and O Menjor, Additional SP, Jiribam as the presidium member while Sr Advocate KB Roy and A Biren ex-MLA were the speakers.
The function at Churachandpur College was graced by Principal of Rayburn College, Ricky Vallallawm, CJM/CCpur & Secretary SLSA CCpur Yumkham Rother and Athokpam Shanta Devi, MJS Judicial Magistrate First Class CCpur.
The programme at Noney (Tamenglong) was attended by Dimthaochung Kamei, Chairman of Longmai Bazar Board; Pungam Keishing, OC of Noney PS and member secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Tamenglong/CJM Tamenglong A Noutuneshori Devi.
