MLA Nemcha bats for women empowerment

"Empowering women and strengthening women's participation in decision making and leadership at both National and local level, is at the heart of sustainable socio-economic development", said MSCP MLA from 50-Kangpokpi AC Nemcha Kipgen on the auspicious occasion of Teej at Kalapahar Sadar Hills yeaterday.
Teej is a traditional fasting festival celebrated by Nepali women for the long life of their husbands as well as long and firm relationship between them until death.
It is observed for marital happiness, well-being of spouse and children besides purification of one's own body and soul.
It is also the most popular festival among Nepali women.

Teej festival celebration at Kalapahar was organized by Mahila Mandal Kalapahar (Women Society Kalapahar) where MLA Nemcha Kipgen graced the occasion as Chief Guest while Dilip Katwal, special contractor, RB Chapagain, president Manipur Gorkha Welfare Union; Devi Prasad Upriti, president Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh Manipur Branch; Paominlen Kipgen, MDC Kalapahar DCC; Ribu Raj Bhujel, Pradhan Kalapahar and Gokul Pokhrel, Ex-Pradhan Toribari graced the function as guests of Honour.
A tourist from Nepal Narayan Bhattarai and Navaraj Bhattarai also attended the auspicious occasion.
Thousand of Nepali women, young and old from different places, all dressed up in red colour clothes, considered auspicious for women observing Teej, participated in the festival.
This festival is considered truly women's day for Nepali women, most probably the happiest day for them in the whole year.
While emphasizing the significance of women empowerment on the occasion, MLA Nemcha Kipgen said that educational attainment and economic participation are the key constituents in ensuring empowerment of women while adding that women leaders have vital role to play in developing innovative approaches and solution to the new development challenges that the society would be facing.
She further added that, former India President Smt.Pratibha Devi Singh Patel, Lok Sabha Speaker Smt.Meira Kumar, AICC President Smt.Sonia Gandhi have proved that women are more perfectionists.
