State Level Kuki Black Day to be observed at Kangpokpi

The state level "SAHNIT NI", also known as KUKI BLACK DAY- 2013 is all set to be observed at Brigadier Thomas Ground, Kangpokpi on 13 September under the theme "Justice and Peace" .
"Sahnit Ni or Kuki Black Day is being observed every year to ensure justice to more than 900 innocent Kukis who were killed mercilessly during the Kuki-Naga ethnic clashes in the 90s" said Ngamlen Haokip, Inf.

Secy of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, who is also the spokesperson of the observation committee.
Kukis will continue to observe the day until justice is delivered and peace is brought, he added.
He informed that this year, the observation committee would invite all the major tribal organizations in the state to participate on the occasion.
Sadar Hills, being the host for the state level observation of Kuki Black Day, the organizing Committee has urged all Govt.and Private run educational institutions to grant holiday to Nursery to class VI students and bring their respective students from Class VII and above to the event.
The observation committee spokesperson further urged all village chiefs and pastors of various Churches to take part in the solemn occasion.
He also solicited all the families' members of the deceased to congregate on occasion for the success of the observance.
While highlighting the programme, the spokesperson announced that there shall be a "Mass Prayer" for Justice and long lasting peace amongst the tribal people and for non-recurrence of such bloodsheds in future.
The programme would also consist of session I (Day) and Session II (Evening).
The evening programme would consist of lighting of Candle at the site of the memorial monument at 5 pm where a condolence service would also be held to pay respect to the departed souls, Ngamlen Haokip informed.
