Demonetisation claims first victim in State

Imphal, December 07 2016:
A 70 year old man who fainted while standing in a queue for exchanging old Rs 500 and 1000 notes at Imphal head post office at around 1 pm of December 5 passed away today early morning today at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) .
Sources informed that the deceased person identified as Koijam Ibohalbi (70) of Thoubal Wangmataba fainted while standing in a queue at Imphal head post office on December 5 at around 1 pm.
Ibohalbi was rushed to RIMS in serious condition and admitted in the Intensive Care Unit.
After undergoing treatment in the ICU for the past two days, Ibohalbi passed away at around 4.30 am today.
It is the first such incident reported in the State after the sudden demonetization of Rs 500 and 1000 notes by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8 .
