Ukhrul, December 07 2016:
Intending NPF candidate from 43-Phungyar(ST) AC Er K Leishiyo condemning the arrest of Gaidon Kamei and Sk Stephen demanded the immediate of UNC leaders.
Er K Leishiyo said alleged that the proposed creation of Sadar Hills and Jiribam district is a well-designed method implemented by the State Government.
He said that the State Government has no intention of creating Sadar Hills and Jiribam district.
The State Government's aim is to woo the voters of both Sadar Hills and Jiribam in the upcoming Assembly election.
He also questioned why the State Government is trying to declare Sadar Hills and Jiribam district when the election is nearing and why the State Government tried to inaugurate the under construction district hospital in Ukhrul.
The timing is political in nature and also questionable.
The stand of UNC and ANSAM on creation of Sadar Hills and Jiribam district cannot be taken for granted.
Sentiments and opinion of all the stakeholders inhabiting in Sadar Hills and Jiribam should be taken into consideration before initiating steps for logical and peaceful settlement, he said.
The State Government's silence on harassment and broad daylight robbery of goods belonging to tribal people in the name of counter economic blockade shows the clear intention of the State Government, Er K Leishiyo said.
When the leaders who will resolve the issue are put behind bars, how can the issue be resolved, he further questioned and said that UNC leaders should be released at the earliest.
