Imphal, December 07 2016:
Ex-MLA Ningthoujam Biren has questioned the State Government's adamant refusal to establish National Sports University (NSU) at Koutruk even after the people of Koutruk, Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou have offered to donate the necessary land.
He was speaking at a political conference held today at Phumlou community hall under the aegis of BJP Sekmai Mandal.
Notably, N Biren has been preparing to contest the forthcoming State Assembly election in Sekmai AC on BJP ticket.

He said that the areas occupied by Koutruk, Sen-jam Chirang, Senjam Khu- nou, Phayeng, Khurkhul and Awang Sekmai were allotted to them by an order issued by the Manipur State Durbar in 1932 .
Soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced his decision to set up NSU in Manipur, people of Koutruk, Senjam Chirang and Senjam Khunou offered to donate the necessary land.
But some hill based organisations acting at the behest of a Minister claimed that the land offered by the three villages did not belong to them (the three villages) .
He went on ask whether the hill based organisations can produce necessary documents which prove that the particular area belong to them.
Biren further called upon the gathering to rout the Congress Government and elect a BJP candidate from Sekmai AC in order to set up NSU at Koutruk.
BJP National Secretary (Organisation) Sunder Paul, BJP Assam organisation secretary and Manipur election in-charge Ananta Narayan Mishra, State secretary Pangambam Premanand, State OBC Morcha vice-president P Phoni Meitei and BJP Sekmai Mandal president Keisham Sahadev were also present at the meeting.
Other candidates vying for BJP ticket in Sekmai AC namely Ayangbam Oken, Heikham Dingo and Khwairakpam Robin too took part in the political conference.
